The site is bounded by Well Lane, Main Road and Bampton Road (A4095) on land we are calling ‘Curbridge Triangle’. It is Grade 4 (poor) agricultural land, which currently provides limited public access or benefit to the local community.
In December 2016, West Oxfordshire District Council published its Strategic Housing and Economic Land Availability Assessment. The assessment identifies Curbridge Triangle as a potential sustainable location for new homes.
The document also says:
“ Sustainable location [Curbridge Triangle] close to Witney and with excellent access to public transport. Whilst development in this location would significantly alter the current linear form of the village, landscape impact would be relatively localised and provided a comprehensive approach is taken and the number of homes is limited to a reasonable amount that would allow for a significant amount of open space to be incorporated into the development, the site offers the potential to create a high quality living environment in close proximity of Witney.” – West Oxfordshire District Council (2016)
